What reputation did Atlanta 20-30 years ago? Some podunk southern town where people still think the KKK rules.

Hardly. Anyone that thought that of Atlanta as recently as 20-30 years ago was completely ignorant, and totally uninformed. I realize that you grew up in L.A., and this crap is spoon-fed to everyone there to this day unfortunately. However, it hasn't been true for decades.

This place has been booming and reinventing itself continually since WWII now, it is nothing new.

Atlanta still wasn't that big until 1980. It wasn't the international metropolis it is now. Very provincial so people didn't know much about it then other than it was burned down and MLK birth home.

Sure wish we had visionaries like Mayor Hartsfield nowadays.

And you know any of this how? You are assuming a lot here, and obviously have no clue of the place prior to your arrival MANY years later.

Because it's not hard to read history of a city. I'm talking about a time before I was even born. Atlanta was NOT an international city prior to 1980. Anyone knows this. Come on now. To lie and say Atlanta was a world renowned city before 1980 is ludacris. Get over yourself with this "YOU WEREN'T EVEN HERE TO KNOW" as if history, statistics, and demographic data for past decades does not exist.

Again, you have no idea. If it makes you feel any better though, just continue with your misguided opinion.

You act like this was Dothan prior to electricity.

I think the reality shows hurt the image for some, but entertains many others.
