Has anyone had any experiences, good or bad, with the Unitarian Universalist churches in the Atlanta? I was thinking about going to visit several near my home to see if I like them or not. I didn't grow up going to church at all, so this is all new to me.

Thanks!

It is all about what feels comfortable to you. It is a good place to start in your situation. the Universalists believe that whatever you believe is OK. They are a community of non specific spirituality.
If you feel you want a Christian church, there are many mainstream ones to choose from. If I can try to explain it...a Christian would probably be comfortable in a Unitarian church, but someone who is seeking might need more of a structure first.

I have a family member who used to attend a Unitarian church, not specifically in Atlanta, but in another state. It was described to me as casual and pretty unstructured, open and accepting, and also LBGTQ friendly. Also mentioned was that a lot of creative and academic types seem attracted to UU, although there are all types of members. Just one person's experience, though.
