I'm moving to the Atlanta area in June and am looking to live in a safe community with great schools. I keep hearing about Alpharetta. Recently, I heard Hamilton Mills is a great area. Can anyone advise me? Any other places I should consider. New job will be near Marietta.

If you are working in Marietta, I would recommend that you look in that area. The commute from Hamilton Mill would take probably 1.5 hours during rush hour. Not sure about the exact time from Alpharetta, but it would still be a horrible commute. In Atlanta, you need to live where you work.

Both areas would be awful for a commute downtown, but Alpharetta is a little closer. My parents live in Hamilton Mill and I'd love to raise a family there, but it's just way too far from downtown.
