Atlanta can definitely do more on this front though. Atlanta is a fun place to be for locals but there’s not a whole lot of “stand out” places or much to take visitors too. Atlanta is not in an ugly area of the country but it lacks the great outdoors like Seattle or Denver has to boost their economies. And Atlanta is not “warm” all year round so it can’t quite compete with Florida on the tourism they provide down there. Atlanta should be looking at the cities up north and take notes. Cities like Chi, Boston, etc. what do they offer that can compete with the big leagues (NYC, DC, etc.)?

I know Atlanta used to have a big nightlife district in Buckhead but it went away because rich people, like what rich people do, is ruin things for everyone for solely their own benefit. They have hindered their own city and probably real estate value by doing that (look at the explosive growth in cities with healthy nightlife districts like Nashville and Austin). Atlanta needs to bring that back. Not necessarily clubs but a collection of live music venues, bars, also still clubs, and other 24/7 services. Put this in Downtown. Put them in the Underground for all I care with some buildings up top. Who says you can’t live over a live music bar? People in Chi and NYC do it all the time. In fact they almost prefer it. Not everyone wants to live above an overpriced and over saturated boba tea place. Wish developers got that through their thick skulls.

Literally all i'm saying. For a city as big and major as Atlanta, there is not one single bar hopping district in the city which is crazy. Ghetto strip clubs surrounded by parking lots don't count, look at Austin, it has multiple nightlife districts (6th st, rainey st, south congress), Atlanta needs that. Why not has something like the old Buckhead, and like you said, put it downtown. Imagine having something like Broadway or the French Quarter downtown, it would be an instant draw and revitalize downtown.

The old Buckhead Village bar district was never “healthy” to the extent that Broadway and 6th Street are.

I used to work in Buckhead and rich people aren't the problem. The hoodrats are.

I nearly guffawed at the description of the Village as “healthy”. The only thing “healthy” about the old Village was it was always packed. Even in the best of days though that neighborhood was a hot mess every night. People act like the fights, drunkenness in the streets, and partygoers having little regard for the surrounding area was something that only happened in the last years. The only difference was WHO was being rowdy drastically changed over the years and the NIMBYs wanted those “sort of people” out. It didn’t work.

So if Atlanta was to get an area like Broadway or 6th, where would it be?
