They are the only provider in my area.

Most EMCs have lower prices, or at least they used to. They also usually offer lower prices in home security.

I had Jackson EMC when I lived in Gwinnett and was always happy with them.

hmmmm, maybe it's me then. I have an energy audit scheduled to help conserve energy. Although I hardly use electricity as well as changed main lights to cfc bulbs. But my bill is high, atleast to me. And I agree, the security is inexpensive and no contract.

Beats the rates in MD where we came from...lol...

They are pretty reasonable. Even with leaving certain electronics on all the time, we have never had a bill exceed $200 a month. Our bill was expensive ever due to the heat wave last summer. Other than that, it is usually pretty reasonable ($70-100)....

Back when I was a freshman in college, back in 93, I lived in an apartment with another girl. After the first month there, a summer month, we got a $300 electric bill!!!

We had an energy audit done and the guy couldn't ever find the source but he agreed that an apartment our size should only be using about $50/month.

We ended up moving because they couldn't find the source and were more than happy to bill us...

I agree! And even the power company guy (this is in Lafayette, LA) agreed and couldn't find the source but it was still MY problem. Well mine and my roommate. At the time I think I was making $600/mo working as a lifeguard!

However, we had taken a summer only lease with the option of taking a full lease at the end. Needless to say we didn't take it.

The power company was not at all interested in trying to figure out what was going on.

see, in a situation like that I guess you have to get and electrian....and I have no idea how much they charge and what they do to find issues like that....good thing you had a short term lease

At the time I couldn't afford an electrician...not to mention I wouldn't have thought of that, being 18 and naive at the time.

However, the last time I had an electrician come out to my house, last year, it was $75 for the trip, but it was deducted from any services you had done. From what I gather electricians don't do free estimates...but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place...
