Maybe MARTA doesn't want it.

The last I heard the city of Atlanta taxpayer still had a serious chunk of change tied up in this thing.
From the results, the city should probably have to pay MARTA to take it.

It gets transitioned from one tax payer supported organization to another. The money would have been collected from one form of tax or another. Infact, the Atlanta tax payers would still be the ones supporting it with their money since, hopfully, MARTA isn't suddenly forced to foot a bill they can't handle. If they can, well then, sure.

I doubt that these people are really unable to discern the nuance in thinking the streetcar was a good idea while also agreeing that MARTA would be a better agency to run it. I think they're just trollin'.

They would because that is how it works in every city where an outside agency runs a transit system that is owned by a city government.

Much like Portland's Streetcar, the city contracts MAX to operate and maintain it, but it is supported by city funds.
