I don't understand why there's this need for everyone to go to the Varsity. It's gross. There are so many other good places to go for some food. Save yourself.

Thanks for your suggestions! Well I wouldn't exactly call it gourmet, but it does certainly have a unique set up and cool atmosphere. The burgers/fries there are about the same price as one would find at like McDonald's, but IMO the quality of that combo is better than in some sit down places, and I also at least remember the orange dreamsicle float being really good lol.

Its a "show." It has its own appeal just like Krog Street Market does.

I forgot that I'd also put the botanical garden on my short list.
Personally of the 3, I would go to the botanical gardens. But its a matter of your own preferences.

I like the Carlos Museum at Emory University. It has a nice group of artifacts from Egypt and the middle east. It also has other rotating exhibits. Not sure what it has right now.

bu2 makes two great suggestions here. And, the Varsity is simply great! Now, you'll be dead from cholesterol if you ate there very often, but a chili dog, onion rings, fried peach pie and a Frozen Orange can be the ticket on occaision!

I did Kennesaw Mountain on a summer day when it was 95F, so it can't be too bad. :-) There's a nice dirt trail that goes up from the upper parking lot. It's not too long, and there are benches. Of course, I took the bus as far as it would go...

I actually think the CDC museum is interesting, and completely different, unique to ATL
