Personally I think there are better options but at this point it seems the die is cast.

KLB can't unilaterally switch the mode from LRT to BRT.

Considering the levels of beurocracy involved with the BeltLine - the city council, the NPUs, the BeltLine leadership itself, MARTA, GDOT - I don't think so.

And then there is that pesky fact that that BRT needs more width for busses to pass each other compared to LRT, and there is not enough of that on the Beltline.

Well that's good to know. Btw I noticed on the Eastside trail by KSM that along the trail there is an open pathway that was under construction. I was curious as to what it is because it looks like a pathway for the future LRT transit.

Getting KLB to understand that is like getting me to understand multivariable calculus.

It is simply the right of way that is available to build out certain connections that are very useful. The Beltline as a complete loop wouldn't be finished until the very last phase of the buildout. Many other components of the network, including both downtown lines and the North Avenue line would have built out long before then.
The original design was the loop. But weeks before the TSPLOST election they came out with their alternative plans. They realized it was probably doomed to failure if it was nothing but a loop.
