Considering the Tiny House Expo is coming to Decatur this weekend, I was wondering if any has done any research on Build to Fit, or building on lot/land.

While the idea of Tiny Houses are interesting, I'd be more partial to small homes (even multiple small homes).

Has anyone done "Bang for the Buck" searches on new Tiny Homes or new Small Houses?

So far, I'm in the $60-$100/sqft range fully built, but was wondering if others could share research.

Just wanted to note those Arched Cabins are pretty cool!

We need a garage at my place and I may look into getting one so thanks for posting.

On "tiny houses" I think it is a silly fad. IMO I think it is a waste of money and that the re-sell value in 20 years will be crap. People can already buy a small house and upgrade its systems to be more environmentally friendly or they can get camper and live in it. I honestly don't see the appeal.

I'd like to see the city of Atlanta authorize tiny houses. It's my understanding this is being considered as part of the zoning code rewrite that is currently under way.

There is a micro-house in Piedmont Park with a shed and a vegetable garden. With the Japanese Minimalist influence, I like the idea of Tiny Houses, but with that being said, I need more space

However, I love the idea of building a subdivision full of Permanent Cabin homes and shared areas like Entertainment, Gardening, etc for like minded individuals. Modern Sustainability with a group-like flare.

Here's some Amish Cabins

I saw these small homes on HGTV and like one of the couples said, "Our parents think we are crazy." For the same amount of money it looks to me like a couple could find an older home with land and fix it up. You will get old some day and sleeping in a loft you have to crawl up to will no longer be an option.

We have 10 acres in the mountains and I have considered buying a two story garage and using the downstairs for living/dining putting a sliding glass door where the garage door is and using the upstairs to sleep. I think that would be bigger and cheaper than the small houses I have seen.

I don't see a lot of difference between small houses and house trailers except the house trailer would be more comfortable and more spacious.

My husband just loves those tiny house shows. My usual response is to continue my crossword puzzles and murmur, "Over my dead body."

LD, by nature a man likes to carve a little spot out of the wilderness and it usually doesn't take much to satisfy his basic needs. Often a simple wood hut with a roof over his head and a place to work will suffice.

It's a shame that the Tiny House Expo doesn't feature tickets at a tiny price. $27? No thanks.

I just happened to be in Decatur and saw the expo and wanted to go. But the cost to enter was too much for me.
