... Look pretty spiffy.

Apparently, though seemingly just a rebrand for now, Cobb is buying new bus stock and they will all look like the new LINC style.

Old article, but they have just started rolling them out the last few months: http://www.ajc.com/news/news/local-g...ew-look/nnYZp/

Putting lipstick on a pig. Majority of the routes run every 30 minutes or more, riders have little option to load fares pre-boarding (which causes long dwell times as riders attempt to stuff cash in the fare box, still lacks live-arrival app, and many routes do not run on Sunday.

Over the last couple months in the Cumberland area, I see about a mix of 1/3 these new buses, 1/3 the old blue CCT buses, and 1/3 MARTA bus (route 12).

Of all those, the MARTA bus -by far- looks the best. Slick white color, slick logo, and I think the CNG canisters on top of the MARTA buses look so good, to the point that the Cobb buses look weird without them.

The thing I don't like about this Cobb LINC rebrand, is that Cobb needs to be joining MARTA so it can actually have decent transit, and now if that happens anytime in the next ~5 years or so, all these shiny brand new buses were a total waste.

I wonder how much they spent on the rebrand, which could have went to increased frequency?

I'm sure that the buses would be rebranded with MARTA insignia.

Interestingly, there's a (totally non-scientific) online poll on the Marietta Daily Journal website at the moment, asking what should be done about easing travel in Cobb County and metro Atlanta. Of the three choices (more public transportation, wider highways and expanding MARTA rail into Cobb County), MARTA expansion into Cobb County is winning a solid majority of the votes.

Again, this is an online poll and as such is not scientific at all, but all the same, maybe times are changing.

Yet most of the county commissioners do not want to put it to a referendum, Lisa Cupid supports MARTA expansion.

Somewhat surprisingly, based on recent comments I have seen, Bob Weatherford seems to be warming to it, too. And certainly the CCD is very much in favor of it, along with much of the Smyrna and Marietta city councils. Hopefully, over time, this creates a groundswell...

It really is happening. There is one state legislator candidate I know specifically, and am working with, to bring a realistic vision of MARTA expansion to Cobb. I know Mike Boyce isn't outright against the notion, and is actually open to considering it if it can be shown to be a good enough idea. The CIDs have already voiced their support.

I aught to be getting in contact with a few of these others... get a proper coalition built and going.

Ah well, fingers crossed coming this November.

Glad to see there is local leadership is who is working inside the county to bring attention to this potential opportunity. Many Cobb residents are tried of people outside of the county, telling them what they need.
