I don't really keep food at home and I'm not wanting one of the expensive, fancy options...is there anything else open?

A decent amount actually.

The problem is it is spotty to what is open or not as many places are franchises with independent or small company operators. There are also a great deal of cut back hours.

Dennys
Ihop
Waffle House/Huddle House
Random Diners
Chinese food
limited, hours limited fast food
limited, hours limiited chain restaurants, particularly appleby, Chillis
Shoneys
Steak n Shake

Go to an area with concentrations of chains and you'll find something. If needed, go towards interstates. There is a great deal of travelers on Christmas from people going to/from family in state's next door so some places catering to travelers remain open

Fa-Ra-Ra-Ra-Ra-Ra-Ra-Ra! Great, wish more Chinese places did that, it's pretty great, even if I have to hate myself a little.

The Fortune Cookie was rockin' last night.

Fortune Cookie Restaurant

For years their phone # was one digit off from mine. Drove me crazy. My youngest daughter finally started taking orders for them. Let's just say there was a lot of undelivered Mu Shu Pork over the years.

Ha, that is funny, LD.

We used to have a phone bumper that was one digit off from a well known multi-billionaire. So we got many interesting wrong number calls. I can't recall one single person who was glad they had reached me instead.

My favorite phone story was from years ago when my mother inherited the # of a call girl service. She found herself fielding clients night and day, particularly requests for a woman named Veronica. She finally had the number changed when an angry wife threatened to hunt her down.
My mother regretted never meeting Veronica. She ended up with a grudging respect for her.
