Hello, I'm a 2nd generation Haitian-American moving to Atlanta (as stated in previous post) in a few months and I was wondering if there are established Haitian communities and neighborhoods there.

Are there any Haitian/Caribbean enclaves?

Are there French speaking establishments and families?

Are there several successful Haitian-American lead businesses, churches and non-profits?

I don't expect anything like Miami, Boston or NY but I'm hoping the Haitian commradery is stronger than places like St. Louis and DC. I'm fluent in Kreyol and French. I very much embrace my culture and would like to know whereabouts in Atlanta I would find Haitian grocery stores, business associations, bars, restaurants, etc. I know one of the Haitian General Consulates is based out of Atlanta, I'm hoping this means the community is more organized and homogeneous than Midwest cities where Haitians are dispersed over suburbs and quickly assimilated.

I know there is some in Gwinnett. Not sure of the size of the community in comparison to DC but it's for sure smaller than Miami. They got a few Haitian churches here. I used to talk to this woman who was Haitian-American who grew up in Snellville. And I remember her saying that a lot of her family and others who lived around each other in Florida moved up here to the same area in Gwinnett when she was young. Sounded like they had a close knit community and her whole family went to this 7 Day Adventist Church off Scenic Hwy in Gwinnett. Went a few times and the service was in Creole. There is also a Haitian church in SE Atlanta off of Browns Mill Rd. They used to go to service there sometimes and from talking to her it seemed like the Haitian community in the metro was a decent size. Not really sure outside of what I heard from her though.

I know that there are plenty of Caribbeans in Stone Mountain. Maybe even Lithonia.
