I am in the process of applying to a few private schools in the Metro Atlanta area and was wondering if someone has any feedback on what to expect as far as the interview step. I understand some schools do them as a group and some take individual students for a one-on-one interview. Does anyone have any info on Marist and/or Westminster. Thanks.

Marist does a group project. The children are given a cooperative task to work on together and a teacher watches them as they're working. They then present their project at the end of a prescribed time. I don't know what Westminster does for middle school (I assume that's the age group you're talking about since Marist doesn't start until 7th grade)

Thank you so much for your reply, I am new to this system and just learning how it works. Do you know what are the scores required on the SSAT for kids to be accepted to either of those schools? I talked to their admissions offices and all they say is that the SSAT is just part of the requirements, but do not say anything else.

Westminster does an interview of two children. They are with two teachers and one high school student observing. I found it sweet because later we received a thank you card from the high school student, thanking my child for interviewing.

As far as the SSAT score, yes, it is only one part of the big picture but it is a given that the higher the score, the more favorable it looks. Still, it will be weighed against the overall of your child's composite picture.
