Personally, I'd like to forget that Freaknik ever happened. It belongs on the ash heap of history.

If true, it certainly wasn't on a positive note.

God forbid we have a big party in the streets and have fun. Jeez. Bunch of squares! This world could stand to loosen up!

This looked like it was cool in its heyday. And at least they were gridlocking the few streets where we actually have a subway alternative.

I miss the early-mid 90's in general. I was a kid, but it was fun. Simpler times.

And God forbid you succumbed to a medical emergency during this "big party"(people did). You were pretty much done for, as you were denied access to first responders during this disgusting intrusion. It was the ultimate display of selfishness, insensitivity and social irresponsibility. And screw (former, Thank God) Mayor Campbell for his enabling and feckless handling of the whole sordid event.

Took me a while to even realize that Freaknik was even happening. I had to live in the areas affected.

Interesting. Then you must have lived OTP, or didn't get out much back when Freaknik was happening.

It actually caused the closing down of the Connector several times, one of the busiest and most important stretches of Interstate in the Country. It also caused the closing of Greenbriar, Lenox, Phipps & Underground multiple times over it's course. We lived a couple of blocks from Ansley Mall back then. It got so bad in it's later years that we just left town every year, as did most of our neighbors.

Glad to hear you weren't impacted.
