Is it actually? It seems Chicago up north has a pretty bad problem

Add New Jersey and Detroit to that list (yes, the entire state of New Jersey vs. just one city).

What is the NRAs position on reducing the number of guns in SW Atlanta?

Go live in Somalia - I think that's already their gun policy there so you won't have to change a thing.

None as long as they are legally obtained guns. There is a huge difference between NRA members who legally obtain guns and get permits for conceal/carry vs individuals who have stolen/illegally obtained guns and no carry permit. It is well documented. People aren't asking the right questions. I am for stricter gun control but the question you are asking doesn't address the gun problems that exist in SW Atlanta or Chicago or many other places. We certainly have a Gun Culture problem in this country but that doesn't provide the complete story.

If anyone thinks that outlawing guns will somehow keep criminals from obtaining guns, just look at how that strategy worked with the war on drugs.

Any laws restricting or making it more difficult to legally obtain and carry will have no affect on the number of criminals carrying guns. You will create a black market for guns (just like drugs) and then criminals will be armed and law abiding citizens will be disarmed. Sounds like a great plan!

If I recall Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws yet the muder rate is absurd. It's not the gun laws, it's something else. I think part of the problem is the gun laws already in place aren't being enforced as well as they should be. You have a lot of people screaming we need more gun laws, but a lot of the same people will fight for individual rights when someone is deemed mentally and stable and should not have a gun.
The case of the guy in Santa Barbara who ran people over, killed his housemates with knives was reported to have issues by his parents but authorities were reluctant to pick him up and infringe on his personal rights. Clearly some things need to be addressed, not just more restrictive gun laws which pretty much apply to law abiding citizens since they are the ones who obey laws.adding more gun control laws does not affect criminals who breaking one law or 20 doesn't matter to them.

There was another shooting at West End Mall today. I bet it was one of those NRA members who is heading out of town after being in Atlanta for the weekend.

The whole trying to draw a distinction between legal and illegal guns is absurd. If you're drowning in water what the difference does it make if it's saltwater or freshwater?
