Where are they, cq? I'm not saying private parks don't exist, I just haven't heard about them.

Oh, yeah, that is a nice little spot. We stopped by there a couple of months ago and really enjoyed it.

Westside Reservoir Park is going to be around 351 acres...

Comparing that to other major city parks:

Piedmont Park, Atlanta - 189 acres
Grant Park, Chicago - 319 acres
Jackson Park, Chicago - 500 acres
Prospect Park, Brooklyn - 526 acres
Central Park, New York City - 843 acres
Golden Gate Park, San Francisco - 1,017 acres
Lincoln Park, Chicago - 1,200 acres
Balboa Park, San Diego - 1,200 acres
Rock Creek Park, Washington, DC - 1,754 acres
Griffith Park, Los Angeles - 4,217 acres
Trinity River Park, Dallas - 10,000 acres

Could there be a way to increase the size of Atlanta's Westside Park?

As I look around the area, there are tons of abandoned property, already wooded areas, a landfill and under used industrial areas snaking from the planned Westside Park all the way to former Bowen Homes & even the river...

In my opinion, the city could and should turn that land into park land

Is Chastain on this list or am I just missing it? As I recall it is the city's largest park.

Lest we forget, with the annexation of Emory the city will be acquiring another 185 acres of parkland.

"Today Lullwater offers 185 acres of woods, water, and fields, populated by a rich ecosystem of largely native plants and wildlife. The serene, sweeping park is open to the Emory community and is well used by hikers, joggers, nature lovers, dog walkers, and Frisbee throwers—all on bike or foot, but not car (only President Wagner’s Prius is regularly seen on the expansive driveway)."

I thought the plan was for only capping a portion of 400.

You recall correctly, but only if you include the golf course as park space.

True, although I always thought of the golf course at Piedmont as part fo the park when it was still open.

I notice they don't include Grant Park or Candler Park either, both of which are looking pretty good these days.

Yet they do include Gun Club Park and give it a low score. Things may have changed a lot since I was last over that way but I don't recall it being a fully developed park.
