The Atlanta Hawks and partners are negotiating to take control of parcels near Philips Arena for a future mixed-use development that would echo what the Braves built at SunTrust Park
This could be HUGE for that area.

All I have to say is, build the commuter rail terminal in the Gulch, then they can build whatever they want to on top of it. Just please DO NOT PRECLUDE said terminal, with this development.

Rest of the commuter rail system can be built out later, but build the central terminal first. Similar to how the Airport MARTA station was built 8 full years before the line got there and it was able to open.

It will always fall short without hockey.

In regards to creating an entertainment focused development, I think that's a good thing. After visiting the Battery, I realized that Atlanta really doesn't have a great concentrated entertainment district. We don't even have a "major" comedy club any more. There's room for much more entertainment options and this a good location.

As long as they leave room for the MMPT.

Can they just create a hockey team kind of like how Mr. Blank just created a soccer team for his stadium?

Almost certainly not an NHL team. Maybe if someone of Mr. Blank's stature is really interested, even stil. A Minor league team though...

I mean shyt if they could they should. Not saying they don't have enough events there but once the redevelopment is open any additional people that they can bring to the development would be helpful.

A comedy club, a bowling alley, some retail stores that aren't currently in Atl, a few bars, a country or EDM club, restaurants, etc would fit nicely.

What I really hate is this uber-massive CNN center deck

Can't we put some buildings on top of all that, or something? It's just MASSIVE.
