There was really strong turnout at my polling place (Peachtree Hills). They were conducting exit polls at the time I was in there. I asked my pollster where they were at and it was neck and neck Norwood and Aman. Not surprising for Buckhead.

I expected Aman to be a solid second up there, but not competing for the top spot. Interesting.

Voted at the Antioch Baptist Church precinct on Northside Drive near the Dome at 7:30, there were maybe 5 voters there where I arrived.

Sounds like there may be low voter turnout.

Quote:
Only about 20,000 of 250,000 registered voters cast early ballots in Atlanta’s mayoral election, a likely sign of dismal turnout for today’s vote to succeed Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed.

A veteran strategist sent us an analysis of the early votes that showed the racial gap was narrow. About 46 percent of early voters were African-American, while 42 percent were white.

A late WSB-TV poll, released on Friday, showed Councilwoman Keisha Lance Bottoms leading Councilwoman Mary Norwood for the first time – but with only 25 percent of the vote to Norwood’s 23 percent. Which is statistically insignificant.

I wonder what the typical early vote racial gap is. I thought I read AA tend to vote early more often?

If that poll is accurate, it sounds like Aman, Woolard and Norwood have been paddling in place and Bottoms has been feeding off the bottom of the field with their totals all declining.
