Hi everybody,
We are moving from Michigan to Atlanta by the end of this month.
And we are planning to buy a 3 bedroom house near Atlanta downtown.
I have a 4yr old son so looking for a good preschool near by.
And it will be good if there are any Indian communities and Indian grocery stores near by.
Hope you suggest some houses near Atlanta downtown.
Thankyou

If you're looking for other Indians, they aren't going to be near downtown.

Where will you be working and what is your budget?

There are MANY nice neighborhoods near and around Downtown Atlanta, but a sought after community with good schools is VERY PRICEY. That is why the other poster asked for price. (Think upwards of $400,000 to $500,000 and up, even for a modest single family home. For a large family home, it could be a million or more.

How near to "downtown" do you need to be? If you're referring to downtown as the broader urban core of the city, then there are relatively affordable houses in the North Decatur area with access to Indian groceries and restaurants. If you're working in Downtown or Midtown Atlanta, then you could commute by MARTA from Decatur or Avondale stations.

Hi everybody
Thankyou all for the quick reply.
Actually we are not going to settle down in Atlanta. My husband works for Workday which is in downtown, atlanta. For sure we are going to stay for 1yr. Next it all depends upon his job. We may relocate to other city.
He was paying to apartments since few yrs. So we got an idea . instead of paying to apartments we better take a house or town home or whatever is best and resell or give it to rent when we leave the city. This is the whole idea which we don't know whether it works or not.
And ours is not a big family . actually 2bed 2bath also works for me. Its good if there is a preschool near by.
Thankyou and I will be waiting for your suggestions.

If you are only planning to stay for a year, there isn't much sense in buying. Once you factor in the closing costs with buying and selling property, it doesm't make sense as a short term living solution.

Workday is in Sandy Springs, that's not close to downtown Atlanta.

You need to look around the Perimeter Mall area.

Buying a house at nearly the peak of the market with uncertain plans in 12 months is not a smart move at all. Keep renting. Thank yourself later.

You definitely need to nail down the details of your move. Budget, location etc. or you will get lots of wrong advise.

There are lots of nice rental apartments or townhomes in the Sandy Spring area - if you this is where you are working.

As everyone has noted, do not buy if you are looking at moving within a year.
