Those were just the fluffy descriptions. Here's the hard #s

In 2015, the median home sale price in Smyrna was $292,000 – in 2016 that number jumped to $320,375.

In 2015, new Chamblee listings were on the market for an average of 40 days – in 2016 that number dropped to just below 25, making Chamblee an undeniable hotspot.

Median home sale prices in Cumming rose to $307,725 in 2016, up from $284,177 to 2015.

In 2015, the median price in Alpharetta was just over $366,250 – in 2016 that number jumped to $384,475.

There was a townhome in my neighborhood that foreclosed on around 2008. It has been in empty since then with minimal upkeep of the yard. I always assumed there was a title problem because it never was listed for sale - until this week!

It is in horrible shape and as I mentioned it has been empty forever. They are still asking near top dollar. Not sure what our homes are worth there have been very few sales in recent years.

It's no surprise that the four cities mentioned (Smyrna, Chamblee, Cumming, Alpharetta) are being cited and recognized as four of the top real estate hotspots in metro Atlanta in 2017.

All these real estate threads make me happy I'm renting again next year. The real estate purchase process just seems so stressful. If I was looking to buy this would be a list of places I would avoid

They forgot to mention the lowish property taxes in Forsyth.

Looks like the South side metro is still being overlooked. If I was buying I'd definitely look there.

Don't forget about Peachtree City. It was listed in the top 50 hottest real estate markets in the nation for 2015 & 2016 according to realtor.com. I don't think the 2017 rankings have released yet.
