Yeah, this is Houston's cashing in on that prime corner.

This is what's coming soon up the Street on the lot next to the closed Firestone:

Hmm, so that's what's going in there. I can't tell real well from the one image on that site, but it looks like a lot of dead space is going to front Lenox road. That's bad.

Speaking of dead space, look at the massive footprint of the parking deck of the Lenox Center tower at the corner of Lenox and Wright, which is only like 10 stories:

2-story parking deck, super space-inefficient parking, taking up most of that block. They need to figure something out with that.

That building is from the 60's, and I'm guessing its days are numbered. I wouldn't be surprised if that entire block isn't in play, including Houston's property. It's way too valuable and prime now.

Shame if they demo the building, as according to signage, it was recently renovated:

I guess that white facade is new.

The building itself is fine, but they need a new parking deck in back, freeing up more of that block.

Oh, wow! It looks immensely better than it used to, I haven't been over there in a while.

They could redevelop that entire block with a nice mixed-use complex and incorporate that building, with screened & shared parking for all of it. There is no height limit over there either, they could pack in a ton of residential and office space.

As an aside, burying the power lines in that whole area would make such a world of difference as far as aesthetics. So ugly!

I totally agree.

I'll add the ones along Piedmont Road and 14th Street as well. Their hideous, and mar views all over town.

The site on Lenox in front of this apartment tower is slated for a hotel.

All the other older buildings (including Houston's) will have to comply with SPI-12 when they are redeveloped. Among other things, that means bringing them up to the street. That also applies to the mall.

Lenox Road will get the Complete Streets treatment.
