One of our couple friends lives in PTC. They generally love it, except for 2 things. They both recently changed jobs and now have to commute to Buckhead, which takes them ~85 minutes. Also, everyone in our friends’ circle lives in the northern burbs, so it’s a hassle for them when we all meet up. So we typically only see them when we are all meeting up ITP.

If you only need to go to the airport a couple of times a month, then I'd recommend Roswell or Alpharetta. Great schools, nice people, both have fun downtowns, and there is an ice rink close to where the city line.

Farther out like Milton and Cumming are great places, but you will lose the downtowns and the airport drive could be epic if the Atlanta traffic is at it's worst.

Peachtree City is nice too, but there is just so much more on the Northside.

Based on your criteria, I'd recommend East Cobb or North Fulton (Alpharetta, John's Creek, and Milton). Those are really nice family friendly suburbs, and Atlanta tends to be a north centric city. The best shopping and dinning options are on the northside. Some of the best schools in the state are also in East Cobb and North Fulton.

With that said, you shouldn't overlook Peachtree City. The 100 miles of multi-use paths are great for biking, jogging, and of course golf carts. The paths connect everything in the city, so you can jog, bike, or golf cart to shops, restaurants, and schools. You'll see families zipping around town on them all the time. I think at last count there were over 12,000 registered golf carts in town.

Also, the schools are some of the best in the state, crime is extremely low, and there are tons of things for families to do. For example, there is a BMX bike track, 3 lakes, multiple sports complexes, an aquatic center, a skate park, nature trails, tennis center, amphitheater, and numerous playgrounds, and pocket parks.

It's been extremely easy to meet people here. My sister-in-law lives in John's Creek, and she said the people in John's Creek don't seem to be as friendly or inviting as the people here. You would also only have a 20 minute commute to the airport from the northside of Peachtree City.

Good luck.
