I'm looking forward to returning to my native city, Atlanta in a few months. I am hoping the job market has improved much since I left in 2012. How is the job market? The affordability on apartments? I'm interested in renting a two bedroom with washer and dryer connections? I used to live in Decatur, I wouldn't mind returning to that area but I hear the rents has tripled over the last few years.

Two critically important questions:

1) Where (what city, town or zip code) will you be commuting to and from for work each day?

2) What is your monthly budget for rental housing?

Coming up with definitive answers to those two very important questions will go a long way in determining where you should look for rental housing in an Atlanta metropolitan area where the job market has improved markedly, rents have increased substantially (especially in hot, in-demand Intown areas like the City of Decatur), and traffic congestion has worsened significantly since you left in 2012.

How the job market is depends on what you do for a living. Apartment costs have gone up considerably since 2012, but then again exactly how expensive depends greatly on in what part of town you want to live. Not sure what part of Decatur you use to live, but if it was North Decatur, it will cost you. Washer/Dryer connections are common, and a lot of apartments come with a washer and dryer in them.
