OP -
We moved from NY and the process could not have been smoother.... well on 2nd thoughts, maybe a minor DMV hiccup could have been avoided.

As the other poster mentioned, get your license, then buy Georgia insurance and then register your car(s).
Note: I messed up and did not have GA insurance when I went to register my car first.

I know house prices are going up but ------- RENT RENT RENT for atleast 6 months preferably a year. Drive around, because that's what people do here and complain about it. Eventually you need to think of living close to work, but we are talking 2 jobs here so one of you has to complain in the future. Start practicing. There is a healthy stock of housing options here to choose from.

From your post I'm assuming you have no kids - enjoy that - stay close to night life - eventually you will have to move to the burbs and get into a rut.

I visited twice before moving - both trips were worth it. You should both come here and stay for a few days if you have not already done that.

We used PODS to move - it was an excellent opportunity to throw out things we did not need. Hired company to load and unload stuff. Very happy with how it turned out.

Thanks for the helpful information
No kids but we do have cats, so we need to find a place that accepts cats.

Oh so car insurance before registering? Good to know.
I know registering will be a pretty penny.

If you don’t mind me asking, how much was the POD?
I’m sure CA to GA will be more expensive but curious what you paid.

Thanks for the helpful input 😃
