I’m going to Atlanta with some friends. We are 21 coming from Wisconsin. We are wondering what there is for fun in the area. We have all been to Atlanta but not together and we’re just driving through. We need some ideas! Thanks you.

How long are you here for, what sort of stuff do you enjoy, and what sort of money do you expect to spend over that period of time?

We are going for 2 weeks around February or March whenever we get break. We enjoy being wild (in a good way), we enjoy adrenaline activities and also wildlife and also partying. We have about $15,000 to spend (we would like to keep some of it) but we saved up just for this trip.

Little Five Points.

Joystick Gamebar and MOTHER and Church, and that whole area on Edgewood.

Downtown Decatur.

Centennial Park, Piedmont Park.

Various bars and clubs in Midtown and Buckhead.

Atlanta is very spread out. You need a nice rental car to get around.

There are lots of really nice restaurants but depends on what part of Atlanta you are in (go to Canoe on the Chattahoochee). The Mexican food is very good there. If the weather is nice you could go down the river (more common in the summer). You could go to Stone Mountain and climb to the top. You can drive to Lake Lanier and spend the day on a houseboat; go to the Aquarium, the Coke Museum, Fox Theater, The Varsity, drink in a bar around GaTech and GaState (both downtown), if you want to you can even drive 1hr to Athens and Drink in a bar there. Atlanta has huge numbers of strip clubs if you are into that. Be sure to avoid the highways at rush hour because you don't want to spend your vacay stuck in traffic.

How much are tickets to Hawks games cause we also had some interest to go to one and is it worth going to or not?

You can get them cheap. if Atlanta United has a game, consider springing for tickets to the reigning MLS CUp Champs.

Just wondering, are you traveling to Atlanta or just passing through?

It definitely wont cost $15,000 to get kicks here. Heck you can even move here and have enough in reserve to last you 3 additional months.

I want to note though, Atlanta isnt exactly a touristy city, it's more so a business city but that doesn't mean there aren't things to do.

If it were me...

Stay at Westin Hotel and have lunch and dinner at Sundial Restaurant.
Visit Cyclorama
Visit Stone Mountain Park
Visit Zoo Atlanta
Visit the Aquarium (this one is pretty awesome)
Visit The World of Coca Cola
Try to walk Peachtree St between Midtown and Downtown.
Visit Hardrock Cafe
Visit The CNN Center
Then if you're ready for some driving and sight seeing around the metro (which is heavily spread out)
Visit Atlantic Station, Lenox Mall, Phipps Plaza, The Avalon, Georgia Premium Outlets (up GA400 north of Cumming) The Outlet Shoppes of Atlanta (up I-575 north of Woodstock), Mall of Georgia

Oh, dont forget Lake Lanier and Margarittaville. Lake Lanier is accessible by GA 400 near Cumming and I-985 between Buford and Gainesville. GA 53 between Cumming and Gainesville is a fun drive. To get to Margarittaville specifically you will need to use I-985 and exit at exit 8 and take a left off the exit and follow the road literally till it ends at a booth. You DO have to pay to enter but it's not too expensive.

If you have more time I would also visit Helen GA (especially) and Athens GA ... both are approximately an hour and a half away....

....Try to plan your drives however AWAY from commuting hours...that or buy a peach pass from Walgreens which will allow you to use the toll lanes. If you're going to Florida afterward you can also use it on Floridas tollroads as long as you register it.

With $15,000, I would go to Hartsfield Jackson International Airport and catch a flight to the Caribbean for two weeks.
