Maybe I'm old school. But you shouldn't accept monetary, material, and political/legal favors from someone who is allegedly sexually harassing you.

Nobody in that kind of a position, especially with a large amount of power gives out in the respect that he was giving to White without wanting something back. He was basically buttering her up for his proposal.

White accepting those gifts (which she should not have if she wanted a 'professional relationship' with him to begin with) is basically opening the door to an open relationship with him. I could see it if he lended her $50 bucks for gas and food but this dude is paying for a family vacation and medical concerns as well as possibly other luxuries that White admitted to and he refuted. That's thousands of dollars... I just dont see that going by without some romantic or sexual interest. This dude whether White accepted it or not is her second boyfriend given how much she allowed him to do before he started making proposals.

1) I think that's where we don't see eye to eye. I don't see all these gifts as something that would automatically make him her boyfriend. If it's proven he used his own money to buy her things, I don't see how she can be wronged in this matter at least legally. As for the shoplifting, like I said that does seem very suspect and she should have been criminally charged for that and he should be criminally charged for corruption.

2) I dunno...these things don't have to be sexual. Some older men enjoy the company of younger women and will do all these nice things just for the company (non-sexual). Perhaps he started to make it sexual and that's when she was like okay you just had to take it there. It could also be that once he started to make it sexual, she feared she'd lose her job and/or he would retaliate somehow endangering her career had she said no.

Exactly!

She was okay with him while he was gifting and donating to her and accepted every one of them. If she didn't want drama from that kind of a situation she never should have accepted his gifts.
Victim blaming is not a good look. Plenty of people have given me gifts before. That certainly does not mean there was an expectation that I would have sex with them. No wonder women don't come forward more often.

Gifts including paying for an entire family vacation, paying for expensive medical bills, completely erasing criminal record history? How does that make her a victim? She was practically opening herself up to an affair. Sorry but to me that just screams there is an emotional involvement which never should have occurred to begin with unless she was open to that kind of a relationship to begin with.

If she were single and open to dating then that would be one thing but to be taking those kinds of gifts from another man while married is an entirely different story.

When senior citizen sexual harassment meets new world technology. Just, wow. Deny, deny, deny—until that recording is released.

Uhhh, no. He was not entitled to a damn thing from her.

See, this is Nice Guy logic in action: you accepted a favor from me, therefore you now owe me a returned favor of my choosing.

Where did you read that I said he was entitled to anything?

She owes nothing, but she technically did leave herself open to possible affairs by accepting gifts that large while married. There's just no getting around that. If you want a proffessional relationship with a man, you do not get 'close' to him and do not accept gifts that may leave the impression that there may be 'something there'. I mean I'm sorry but having the county district attorney pay for your family vacation is absolutely absurd. Having him completely release your criminal record too? What do you think is going to happen, he apparently has an attachment to her.

And my what a silly story.

I honestly dont feel that bad for White. It shouldn't have happened but she sure did invite it.
Pretty silly story. Sounds like they deserved each other. Both doing stupid things, winning stupid prizes.

"...In October 2017, White was arrested in Polk County and charged with shoplifting at Walmart. She said the incident was a mistake and the result of an item not scanning at the self-checkout counter. Donovan picked her up that evening from the Polk County jail. The charges against White were later dropped after Donovan spoke with investigators...."
