We get constant updates on the Brooks shooting, but nothing about the 2 people killed and 5-7 others wounded in Edgewood.

It doesn't matter. Sending a message that police will have to walk on eggshells alongside criminals in carefulness as to how they act alongside those who have absolutely no concern for anything lawful pretty much gives them open field and players choice. They can do whatever they choose with little or no repercussions. These are not people who are innocently abiding by the law and found misfortune with the police (and those people I have empathy for and know its a real problem.), these are people who have absolutely no concern for the law, or neither myself or even you. They want their way and will go to any length and means to get just that...including through both of us, whom now have limited means of lawful protection. Now they know there will be less police presence, or even if there is a presence, they stand a much higher chance of outright getting away. Look at what has happened in Seattle's 'CHOP' zone, there have been uninvestigated murders, and the history of criminal liberation (for the lack of better words) that has happened in San Francisco and Los Angeles of which is a large reason so many people are leaving those regions. (It's no longer a felony to break into private property there but only a criminal offence and in some cases the police will not even respond, you cannot tow vehicles from private property, the list goes on)

Look at it like this

You have a River Dam (the police) that holds back a large lake. Silt and Dirt is heavier than water and sits below the visible water (criminals) but the fresh water that sits above it are those who are being held back from the stream below (people who have been unfairly treated by the police) .. .. you want to let the water go without taking the silt and dirt with it. Removing the whole dam by outright abruptly punishing it, breaks the Dam, now EVERYTHING behind the dam goes downstream and creates a huge mess.. ..you need a controlled release to let only the water go.. ..that is a properly trained reform, and no - I don't agree with sending social workers out to do a cops job. I personally don't think you will beable to find one willing to accept a cop's salary at even that, and those inexperienced willing to work for less probably won't do much better than a cop.

Whats needed is for cops to be trained to show restraint - not overturning the entire judicial system.

Trump supports the police (law and order). The exact opposite is true of Dem mayors/governors. That is the problem, not Trump.

If you guys keep it up, you may catch up to Chicago. We're up to 16 dead and 69 wounded in shootings this weekend.

The real problem is polarization. The left are far too left and the right are far too right. People are playing their sides and only their sides (this goes for both leftist and rightist) without looking at the major hurdles of each and how it will affect their lives and the lives of other people, its become too much about 'me being right' rather than 'whats best for the nation as a whole'. I support neither.

I don't think Keisha 'wanted' riots to outbreak or cause an anarchy but she is looking to protect minorities and there is nothing wrong with that, but it has to be done strategically as well.

Yes. And guess what happened afterwards?

UPDATE 8:45 P.M.: At about 7:20 p.m. Sunday — with an hour of a press conference in which the mayor decried gun violence in the city, Atlanta police officers responded to a person shot call on Pryor Road.

Upon arrival, officers located two people who appeared to have been shot. A third shooting victim arrived at Grady Hospital a short time later and officers determined they had been shot at this same location. That person is now dead.

Keisha Lance Bottoms is a disgrace and her rhetoric and actions caused this. She was right enough is enough and she needs to either be removed from office or step down for the good of this city.

Bingo. Since he says he like police so much. No thread about that

I fail to see how any of this is the mayors fault.

Keisha Lance Bottoms in 4 months has destroyed 25 years of hard work by her Mayoral predecessors and other community leaders to make intown Atlanta a safe livable place. It is beyond ridiculous what she has managed to do in such a short timeframe. She’s incompetent.
