According to the universities in person instruction will conclude at Thanksgiving break.
The decision was made to mitigate a possible COVID-19 outbreak after students return from
Thanksgiving break.

These are the two universities that I know of so far.

This is about football. Schools are doing any and everything possible to keep from having to cancel the season.

Its pretty much the standard for the schools that are opening. They don't want kids travelling around the country for Thanksgiving and then mixing in all their exposures back at campus.

No. San Diego St. brought their football players in before they decided whether to open in the university.

Football has nothing to do with these decisions. Football revenue is minor compared to tuition revenue. They don't want students to stay at local community colleges.
