Sounds like Atlantic Station has been getting its share of wild and woolly behavior, too.

Witnesses reported massive crowd of teens before gunfire at Atlantic Station

More gunfire at Atlantic Station results in property damage, but no injuries

If you go to Phipps, the Chanel/Louis Vuitton at Saks, Gucci, and Tiffany & Co. are always packed with a lot of shoppers. But the mall itself doesn't have a lot of people, only the destination stores. Lenox is usually crowded everywhere.

AS has had boom/bust crime sprees ever since its conception.

I don't think it was online shopping that killed the malls so much as regional centers that are so much easier to get in and out of.

That’s a good point.

Consumers seemed to have started moving away from malls with the rise of big-box bricks-and-mortar shopping back in the 1990’s.

Online shopping (along with changing societal spending habits) just seems to have finished off many malls that were already struggling.

While I agree that malls like Stonecrest, Arbor Place and Southlake obviously don’t have the brightest futures at this point in time, those malls do appear to at least be holding on for the time being and don’t appear to be completely finished just yet. Though their days do appear to be numbered, unfortunately.

Meanwhile, Alpharetta’s North Point Mall is slated to be redeveloped into an open-air mixed-use development concept.

A bystander got shot at Atlantic Station last night. Apparently she happened to be walking near the bowling alley while some patrons were having a kerfuffle.
