We will be moving to Atlanta for work (at the Coke headquarters in downtown Atlanta). Any suggestions on a good neighbourhood providing safety, good public schools (not just book smart, but well rounded and confident building) and of course a reasonable commute in a post-COVID world??
Would also like to consider a neighbourhood where it’s easy to get around for shopping/activities without dealing with heavy regular traffic patterns. We’ve been told to consider East Cobb and PTC area... Any ideas for average commute time (leaving house around 7am and leave to come home around 6-6:30)? Or any other neighborhoods to look into???

Thank you!!

East Cobb is a good closer-in suburban option and probably should be one of your very first priorities for a place to search for housing because of the extremely-to-exceptionally high quality of the schools there.

Peachtree City is also a good option, but maybe potentially not the absolute best option for a morning commute to and an afternoon commute from Coca-Cola Headquarters during normal non-pandemic times.

If you are open to living ITP (in the part of the Atlanta metropolitan area inside of the I-285 Perimeter), then the City of Decatur proper with its excellent small city school system (Decatur City Schools) more than likely also should be at the top of your list of areas to consider.

The highly desirable part of the City of Atlanta proper that feeds into Grady High School (in ITP/Intown neighborhoods like Virginia-Highland, Morningside-Lenox Park, Druid Hills, Candler Park, Lake Claire, Inman Park, Ansley Park, Sherwood Forest, Piedmont Heights, east Midtown near Grady High School) likely also should be one of your top areas to consider. That is because of the excellence of the Grady cluster as urban public schools, and also because of its Grady cluster’s very close proximity to Coke Headquarters.

The part of the City of Atlanta proper (including greater Buckhead and some other desirable and improving neighborhoods in Northwest Atlanta) that feeds into the improving North Atlanta High School might also be another good ITP area to consider because of its close proximity (and likely relatively short commute to/from) Coke Headquarters, because of the high quality of many of the residential neighborhoods there and because of the numerous amount of metropolitan amenities that can be accessed from that area.

Worked at Coke, live in East Cobb (as does half the company! lol).

In pre-COVID times, it would take 37-50 minutes (I live halfway between Walton and Pop HS's). Now, it's probably closer to 32 minutes? I think with no traffic at all it's like a 28 minute drive. An electric vehicle shaves a solid 5+ minutes off, as you can use the I/75 HOV lane, AND the HOV exit!
