...where's the best place to live?

I'm a single woman, 45yo, and would like an upscale condo community, and to avoid a long (more than 30mins) commute if at all possible. Would love a place where I can walk to shopping and restaurants at night and on weekends, and that's safe...

Any suggestions out there? I may be relocating there in the next two months and am just starting to research Atlanta.

Oren

There are plenty of places in Midtown that fit the bill. You could do some areas in Buckhead as well, though the commute would be longer. However, you also have the option of taking MARTA to commute.

Finding a condo that is convenient to Techwood will not be difficult...what is 'upscale' in your mind, as far as price?

Centennial Place Condos are going for $550K plus on Techwood, well not Techwood anymore since the olympics, called Centennial Place now. Across the street from Tech and the Tech dorms (old Ga State Dorms).

I'm guessing Turner since that's the only business on Techwood besides mens/womens GT basketball coaching jobs

Thanks for the responses - will check out the areas you mentioned.

As far as upscale, I'm thinking a high rise condo - something modern, preferably new and hopefully with a decent view. I'm not looking to purchase at this time. I want to rent until I get to know the area, etc.

Thanks again

Get a good realtor to walk you through...you're coming into a buyers/renters market, and the midtown condo scene is frankly fabulous...hope you find something wonderful!!

What about 'Spire', by Novarre group? Any opinions on this area (it's midtown, right?!)

I would also check out Luxe which is the first new high rise to be built closest to Piedmont Park in 20 years. LUXE - The First Luxury High-Rise Condominium on Piedmont Park in Atlanta Georgia in 20 Years They are condos, but who knows, maybe there will be an investor that will place a unit on the rental market after it's completed.

There should be plenty of rentals in Midtown for you to try the area on for size.

Spire is a nice building and there are restaurants and shops at the base of the building. There are tons of shops and restaurants all within walking distance of the Spire.
