I just relocated to GA. Well, actually, I am here staying with family and my hubby is still back home. I work in Kennesaw and am looking for a good area to look for houses. I would be thrilled to get into something under 100K. I am wondering if that is possile considering what I need. I need 3 bedrooms, more than one bathroom would be a luxury that I could get used to, at least a small yard/area as my father likes to putter in the yard, and a garage or workshop as he likes to putter there too. Is it really possible to find something in that price range that I would not have to put alot of money into fixing up?

We dont have children, so schools are not my priority. The commute, safe neighborhood and a small town feel for my father are my priorities.

Wow, find a lot for 50K or less and drop a prefab home on it for another $25k to $35K. Get a 203k loan and you can get all this for around $100k to $120K. You can do it.

This is a really old thread you dug up from 4.5 years ago.
Of course nowadays you can find some unbelievable homes for well under $100k all ready to move in.

Land in the metro area (and most desirable parts of the south) is very expensive and in relatively high demand. Unless you dont mind living 30 minutes from the nearest grocery store, 100k wont leave you with much after you buy the land. The one exception is you can find zillllions of small subdivision lots for cheap. Only they restrict what you can built. It's gotta fit within their design standards, be a minimum size. Then you have to pay HOA dues or maintenance.
