can someone tell me whether it's possible to live in an atlanta suburb and still be able to to commute to Macon (<1hr drive). If so which suburb? Should haev all the makings of a bedroom community (i.e. good schools, moderate to expensive homes etc.) From what I can tell it's better to live in Atlanta than Macon, but I may be working in NW Macon (JNCT RT75 and RT475).
thank you
For a nicer area, you could live in Peachtree City, but it would add approximately 30 minutes to the trip. The map shows a somewhat indirect way in the first leg of it. Once you learned the back roads you could take a more direct route and shave a few minutes off the commute. Map: from: peachtree city, ga to: macon, ga - Google Maps
You may be able to find something in Henry County. It is pretty much considered the "start" of the metro area as you approach from the South on I-75.
There are a lot of new subdivisions, shopping, etc. I "think" the school system is still pretty highly regarded, but not sure.
