Correct. Makes it more convenient for the thugs to steal it. True story. No I am not being sarcastic. Why do you think the area is plagued by break ins

Arden lake, edgewater east are good subs. Chastain lakes is higher end but well established. Summer place is old but stable and cheap, and the one next to it across from the church. I forget the name.

Thanks, I'll look into all of your suggestions. Hubby just informed me that the house max is 175K not 200K - party pooper....

We just really don't want to be house poor again..... Once we sell this one we'll know better.

He'll actually be working on Busbee not chastain.

The only reason I asked about the gifted is that my son is in it now (I don't expect them to make him a rocket scientist but he gets bored without something extra to do....)

Are there any schools in that area to completely avoid? or neighborhoods for that matter?

When I'm looking for a house in East Cobb (searching online) what city name should I put in, when I put in Kennesaw I just get west and north....

or is kennesaw considered east?

Thanks,

Thanks,
I think Kennesaw is considered West Cobb. I'm not sure you will find anything decent in East Cobb for a $175k max budget, at least what people consider East Cobb (typically areas that feed into Lassiter, Pope and Walton...not sure if people consider Sprayberry or Wheeler in that group or not). When we were house hunting, we used the high schools we liked in the search engine rather than city names since a lot of Cobb County seems to be unincorporated. For example, my zip code is 30127 Powder Springs, but I don't live anywhere near Powder Springs but closer to Acworth/Kennesaw. Confusing!

There's been discussion on here before as to what constitutes "East Cobb", "West Cobb", etc. Someone even posted a map of their interpretation. You may want to search the forum and see if it comes up.

A significant percentage of East Cobb has a Marietta mailing address.

Here's one of the threads discussing areas of Cobb a while back. It might be worth skimming, just to get an idea of people's thoughts on it

Disagree, Kennesaw is considered North Cobb and that is the hgh school it primarily feeds along with Kennesaw Mtn.

Somewhere around Dallas Highway is where I consider West Cobb to start.

Also some of unincorporated Kennesaw goes to Harrison (at least part of 30152 zip, I believe).

You're probably right, but the two do border each other:

Thanks,
You can search by highschools Pope, Lassiter, Walton and a few others. I believe these highschools only serve East Cobb a few others are a mix (Sprayberry, Wheeler, and Kell all good schools as well). I used harrynorman.com to search as you can search by school.
