In terms of pro sports which of the big 3 is the most popular: Braves, Falcons or Hawks in the metro

Also (more interestingly) which is more popular in college football UGA or GT, theres so much mutual hate it is hard to tell.

The Braves are the most popular, followed closely by the Falcons. The Hawks are okay.

Not sure about the college sports. I'm probably sure that it is mixed, or they favor UGA.

For the media and most in the area.
#1 Braves
#1 UGA

For me, it's the Atlanta Hawks and the Gwinnett Braves
As far as UGA and GT, well only one thing to say. Go Terps!

In general, I'd say

Most popular: Braves
Followed by: Falcons, then the Hawks and Thrashers (Tie)

Either way, besides college football, this is not a good sports town. I mean, the Hawks are in the playoffs and there are unsold tickets... ditto when the Braves make it.

The Georgia Bulldogs.

Pro teams here are definitely second fiddle. The "Dawgs" football team is overwhelmingly the favorite sports team, with the Falcons probably second and the Yellow Jackets maybe third. The Braves have a following, but nothing strong. I've been to a few Braves games since moving to Atlanta, including two this season already, and Turner Field is usually empty. Contrast that with Fenway Park where they've sold out the last 450+ home games in a row.

It might be due to the mix of folks from other parts of the country, who like me are fans of other teams, since the pro teams just don't get as much following as places like NY, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Philly. The college football teams are really where the passion is for sports here in the south, which is very much opposite what you'll find in the northeast.

For me it's just about all Braves. I have been following the Falcons for a bit. I'm surprised I haven't seen any talk for the Yellow Jackets. I'm not into basketball anymore and hockey means nothing.

Yeah it's probably Braves as the biggest. I am a huge Falcons fan but damn they make it impossible to go to a game. If they have a wining season or losing season they continue to raise the ticket prices. But yeah I can't get into basketball and I'm not a hockey fan either. But we also have Nascar two times a year here and do forget the Arena football team Georgia Force, they are fun to go to and affordable.

First off, 75% of Bulldog fans are bandwagon and really don't know much about football. Now that that's out of the way I would say that the Falcons and Braves are equal but the Falcons will soon pass the Bravos, the Hawks are second, and the Thrashers are last. Three of our major four have suffered from extreme ineptitude for most of its existence. The Falcons have been around since 65 and they are just now becoming complete (great owner, GM, Coach, and QB), the Hawks have bounced around so many times and Atlanta's the fifth stop for this franchise (there has been a lot of ineptness in this Atlanta franchise, like not getting Chris Paul or Deron Williams), the Thrashers are the Thrashers. The influx of newcomers is about 70/30 negative right now because they love their teams but I think it'll swing to the positive and Atlanta will gain more fans someday. Right now our basketball team still has much ineptness to overcome (imagine if we had CP3) but I still support them.

I am surprised by the answers. I have been in Atlanta for 1 1/2 years and while the Braves and baseball are #1 for me I feel like the Falcons get the most interest in this town judging by sports talk radio and just the talk on the street.
