There are lots of waterfall hikes within a few minutes drive of Helen.

Alpine Mini Golf is a good putt-putt course. And your pets are welcome to accompany you.

Just checking out the shops is good for a few hours at least. Most of them are nick-nacky touristy junk, but there are some where you can find some decent stuff.

Check out Dukes Creek Falls. It's about a 10 minute drive from the center of town. Definately worth the hike!

I'll second this. It's a much better experience than Anna Ruby Falls, which is crowded and less impressive as a waterfall.

Yes, and it's fun. The river is like ice water, and totally refreshing.

There is also a pretty decent pizza place with a nice deck over the river. They are right at the bridge on the left as you come into town from the South. Grab a pitcher of cold beer, order a pie and watch the tubers float by.

I forgot about this. I was planning on going up there in October. I'll have to change it to late September or early November. Thanks for the reminder...I hate crowds.

Anna Ruby falls are in Unicoi park, which is a beautiful park with loads of amenities.
