As far as a melting pot of rooting interets that can apply to every city almost I would think. Like I said I have no objection to having it in Atlanta. But i've never thought of it as a college football city.

You have the chic-fil-a bowl and tech; atlanta is one of the last cities that comes to mind when thinking of college football centers.

Hmmm. The SEC (Southeastern Conference) is pretty much considered to be the best college football conference in the USA. People know about "southerners and their football."

SEC is also considered by many to have the most hardcore college football fans

All of the Southeastern conference teams dream of going to ATL each year to have a chance to play for the SEC Championship, in the SEC Title game.

Also, ATL has a school in a major conference, Georgia Tech of the ACC.

ATL is also home to the Chick-Fil-A Bowl which brings one SEC and one ACC team each year for an exciting bowl game atmosphere.

Also, I'm not sure what the deal is...but this year and last year Alabama opened up with games at the dome Vs. Clemson and Virginia Tech. I think it was called the Chick-Fil-A kick off classic.

I dont know if ATL is the 100% best place for the college football hall of fame, but it cant be out of the top 5 places that deserves to get it.

What a great thing for the city of Atlanta !
I've always wanted to visit this Hall of Fame and never made it there due to where it is presently located - so this is awsome news to me.

Atlanta has a much larger tourist infrastructure than all those cities COMBINED with two major airlines HD'd here and rail service/hotel/restaurant services and area to support this type of venture. Atlanta is the crossroads of College Football and the only city I know of with two teams from two major conferences (ACC/SEC) in the same general area (GTECH/UGA).

The cities you mentioned care basically college towns with an allegiance to their home teams each of their respective cities Austin(UT), Columbus(OSU), Ann Arbor(UM), Tuscaloosa(UA), Baton Rouge(LSU), Tallahassee(FSU), Gainesville(UF).

The great thing about The Atlanta Metro is that both UGA and GTECH are about equally represented in force with alumni and then you have all the Big-10, ACC, SEC and other conferences from all around the USA with theiir Alumni here in Atlanta representing with their apparrel on cars, shirts and nalia all over the place.

I can see this musuem hosting alot of events and when the CFB Hall of Fame has it's ceremony there will undoubtedly be a game to commence the ceremonies as a opener (similiar to the NFL HOF GAME in Canton each year) and It's going to do great things for the already burgeoning area.

I honestly can't think about a better city to have it in. Viva Atlanta!

Those are college towns, you said cities. And once you factor out support for the local team I doubt you find many college football fans. Certainly not like you do here.

And the SEC Championship game and that thing at the beginning of the season....

All your arguments are good reasons for Atlanta to have it...but I never claimed any of those cities had superior tourist infrastructures. I simply stated that those cities were better college football cities than Atlanta and I stand by that. And notice I have never once complained about having it in Atlanta. I think Atlanta is a great place to have it and think it will get quite a bit of traffic there. More than it would in Austin of Columbus. I was just questioning the statement that Atlanta was the best college football city.

Both Austin and Columbus have metros over 1 million and Austin should be hitting 2 million within the next ten years making it larger than cities like Cleveland and Cincy where the population is declining. If a metro over one million doesn't make you a medium sized city then I don't know what does.
