We are going to be purchasing a home in East Cobb within the next few months and I would really like to find one in a subdivision that has 1) a baby pool/wading pool and/or 2) a sloped "zero-depth" or "beach-style" entry. I know Hampton Woods has one, but are there others? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Which part of East Cobb are you particularly interested in?

There are many great pools in East Cobb...

We will end up buying anywhere in the Walton, Pope, or Lassiter HS areas. I know that's a pretty big area, but we want to keep ourselves open to finding a house and community that really fits. Having a great pool is a big part of that, so I really want a "special" pool that has either the baby pool or the zero-depth entry.

I've looked at lots of subdivisions but so far, Hampton Woods is the only one I've found that has either of those criteria.

I don't know total specifics about pool amenities, but I do know a several neighborhoods have very extensive pool amenities. I would check out these neighborhoods:

1. Northampton (Mountain View ES, Simpson MS, Lassiter HS)

2. Easthampton (Mount Bethel ES, Dodgen MS, Walton HS)

3. Chimney Springs (Tritt ES, Hightower Trail MS, Pope HS)

4. Chimney Lakes (Shallowford Falls ES, Simpson MS, Lassiter HS)

5. Highland Point (Davis ES, Mabry MS, Lassiter HS)

6. Jefferson Township (Garrison Mill ES, Mabry MS, Lassiter HS)

7. Indian Hills
Western 2/3: (Eastside ES, Dickerson MS, Walton HS)
Western 1/3: (Eastvalley ES, East Cobb MS, Wheeler HS)

8. Atlanta Country Club/Chattahoochee Plantation (Sope Creek ES, Dickerson MS, Walton HS)

This is a beginning list. Let me know if they are helpful, if you've already researched them, and/or if you want more neighborhoods.

I think Westchester's pool might have the zero-depth entry. It's been a while since I've been there.

Westchester is in the NE portion of the Lassiter district, near Mabry Rd and Hwy 92. Schools are Garrison Mill ES, Mabry MS, Lassiter HS. If any family member needs to commute ITP I'd recommend looking further south in East Cobb -- but this caveat would apply to numbers 4, 5 and 6 on aries' list, all of which are fairly close to Westchester. (I live in a nearby subdivision that lacks a pool, and commute to Sandy Springs, which is an acceptable commute, IMO).

Can you give any indication as to your housing budget? There's some price variation in the suggestions so far. Of the ones I'm familiar with, Chimney Springs and Westchester would have lower-priced homes (they're impressively affordable, actually) compared with say, Highland Pointe and Jefferson Township.

Just a quick question....why do you care so much if it has a baby pool? They're only good for the first one or two years of a kid's life....then you're just wishing your community had a hot tub instead. I say that as someone who lives in a community with a baby pool and I just think it's a waste of space.

How long do you plan on staying in the home? If it's more than a year or two, what you really need to look for is a great Swim Team. The baby pool will be useful for only a year or two--when your oldest is a baby. The swim team will occupy your children from ages 4-18. A healthy swim team is a sign of a robust, active community. It's where kids will grow into strong, confident young adults and parents will work side by side building lasting friendships. The baby pool may be where you are now but it is a short window and it isn't what the community is really about.
