I may be relocating to Albany and have three school aged children. One avid football player going into 9th grade. Older posts on here have NOT been very encouraging. Any current information you know about the area would be appreciated.

You'll probably receive many more responses if you post this in the Georgia room.

We are a long way from Albany.

True. I don't know if you're very familiar with Georgia but Albany's a good three hour drive from Atlanta. It's closer to many cities in Florida than it is to Atlanta. I grew up near Albany and alot of people have really negative things to say about the crime, politics, economy, etc. there. But, it's really not that bad a city.

Like Johnatl said you will gather more info on the Georgia forum.

Albany, from Atlanta is about 3-4 hours away. On the way, stop at Mark's Melon Patch and pick up some boiled peanuts, peaches and peanut brittle! YUM!

MY cousins grew up in Albany and they were sent to private school. Not sure if that is in your budget or not, but from what I understand, that is the way to go!

When you get to Albany, stop by Place on the Point! It is the cutest shop in the world and one of my dear friends owns and runs that shop!

Albany overall is a nice place to live, but you have to be on the right side of town and know the right people socially to make it! It's a small town and everybody knows everybody!!!
