Would love to relocate to Rabun County someday. Does anyone know anything about the area, such as housing, jobs, weather, etc.? I fell in love with the area on a vacation several years ago.

You might want to repost this question in the Georgia general section and not in the Atlanta section as Rabun county is about a 3 hour drive northeast of Atlanta.I agree with you, it is a really beautiful area.

I know the area well as a vacation spot as we go to a family home on Lake Burton in the summer. It is a pretty typical small town. I always think it is surprising that given the two lakes (Burton and Rabun) in the region, as well as the mountains that it has not become more touristy like Blue Ridge has. There is very little going on in the town on Saturdays and nothing at all on Sundays.

The weather is pretty perfect. In the summer, when it is 90 degrees in Atlanta, it will be more like 82 or so in Clayton. Because of the geography there are frequent brief rain showers in the warm months, but they pass quickly. Winter brings colder weather, but not a great deal of snow. Snows are infrequent enough to be special.

Hope some of that helps.
