Me and my bro are moving to Georgia, probably in the Decatur area, where he will be working but my job only offers positions in marietta, Hiram, Suwanee, Acworth,Alpharetta or Lilburn, which one of these cities is closest to Decatur and which has the best schools and is a family neighborhood..

Lilburn is probably the closest to Decatur but I don't know anything about the schools there.

Like a lot of places in Gwinnett, you gotta look more by school cluster than actual city name. Lilburn has its share of good and bad places. I would concentrate on Parkview and Brookwood school clusters, which are both partially in Lilburn. You would probably want to avoid Meadowcreek cluster.

As a work location, "Lilburn" could mean any number of either good or bad places, but the odds tip somewhat in favor of "not bad, exactly, but not great". There aren't any parts of Lilburn, however, that I'd consider unacceptable as a work location (assuming we're not talking about being a clerk in a convenience or liquor store). If you're planning to live in Decatur and work in Lilburn, I wouldn't worry.

All of the other options would be a long freakin' way from Decatur to have to make the trip every day for work. Suwanee would be the next closest, but still a pain. Any of the others would probably have you screaming for mercy if you had to do it daily.

We have friends in Lilburn who say the school in their area is one of the best in the state.

if you're moving from one of the 48 states ranked above GA you're in for a surprise.

wow! Lol! Decatur City Schools are pretty good. Decatur City isn't the same thing as DeKalb County; it's a separate system.

The "intown" Decatur area, such as Clairmont, Scott Blvd., Candler Park, the stretch along Ponce is pretty family friendly.

If you are considering Lilburn, I'd focus on the Lilburn going towards Stone Mountain (Gwinnett Stone Mountain that is)...not sure what that cluster is, but I'd avoid much of Lilburn along Lawrenceville Highway. I think the cluster is Berkmar? Or Parkview? Or both? Not sure, but, know the Rockbridge Road area going from Lilburn to Stone Mountain (Gwinnett) is pretty nice.

If you already know where you are going to live why do you need the info on the other places? I mean its only work all you need to know is the closest location near where you will live right?
