I have finally been offered a position at a university in Decatur, GA. I start at the beginning of February. This will be a very quick move. Anyone familiar with Swanton Dr?? Are there nice homes in that area? If not, where should I live in the 30330 zip code?

Also, I have 4 year old twins. I was looking at either College Heights or Phoenix School. Can someone provide feedback on those preschool programs?

College Heights is great!

You will have to live in the City of Decatur (inside the city limits) for your twins to attend, however.

Swanton Drive is a good area, and near everything. The zip is 30030, BTW.

The City of Decatur is wonderful. Very much like a small college town but just 15 minutes from Downtown Atlanta.

Here's the city web site: City of Decatur, GA

so is 30033 a "good" area. I know 30032 is Decatur but that is not the best area, I've been told.

All of those zip codes have Decatur mailing addresses, only 30030 is actually the City of Decatur (with its own government, school system, and police). The others are in unincorporated DeKalb county.

I've lived in 30033 for the past 40 years and think it's a great area. Very convenient. Very affordable for intown.
