The old quote:
There are 3 types of lies,
Damn lies,
and statistical lies.
I wonder if we will really ever know. In the WORST gang areas, the residents are too afraid to report crimes, creating a statistically false rating, or in a prevalent criminal culture you dont "rat", . . . while in a good area NOBODY is reluctant to call 911, and such reported/recorded incidents could skew the stats.
So I dont know what to believe.
I hope the new Atlanta mayor does more than just target panhandling.

None of those cities on the list surprise me.

According to a lot of folks I live in a gang area, even though I have never seen a gang or really have seen much crime at all besides some man who ran into our car because he was DUI and we called the police.

Really I think that journalist just focus on certain areas a lot and not so much on others so you just don't hear about the crime in smaller metro cities.
