Hey all,

How are the roads around Locust Grove during the week? Does it get congested... i have been around McDonough and sat for 25 minutes to move one mile near the interstate, no exaggeration. Locust grove seems less populated but the roads are mostly two lanes, I've been thru on the weekends and traffic was light. THanks

I have lived in locust grove for about 4 years now. It depends where you live. I used to live off of peeksville rd, and traffic did get backed up in the evenings after work. especially if a train was coming through. I now live off tanger blvd, and traffic still gets backed up in the evenings and weekends. During holidays is also bad, because of Tanger. Overall, i have just come to accept the fact that anywhere in the atl metro is going to have traffic problems.

The HW 42 Bill Gardner Pkwy intersection is what causes most of the trouble, but all along 42 there are no signals or turn lanes. If you try to get on 42 from a side street you're going to sit and wait especially during peak hours. When a train comes by it creates more problems. The County knew about this problem 15 years ago yet 42 is still a two lane road. BUT, there's plenty of asphalt between McDonough and Hampton on HW 20, but it only serves its purpose two times a year, on race weekends. That ashpalt should have ben put to use on 42, 81 east, 42 between McDonough and Stockbridge, but you can thank Roy Barnes and his crew for that. Mike Crotts was a sitting senator I believe when that happend.
