When the U.S. Soccer Federation turns in its bid Friday to host the World Cup in 2018 or 2022, it will recommend Atlanta be the host city for the international broadcast center.

U.S. Soccer will make its formal bid to Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the World Cup’s governing authority, Friday in Zurich.

I'm a bit confused. So the broadcast center can be separate and independent of the city hosting the tournament? That seems sorta strange to me--like Seattle hosts the World Cup while all the journalists are here.

Or are they simply saying that if Atlanta wins the tourney, it will also get a large media hosting gig? (I guess I assumed that was part of the package anyway.)
