This is my second Q5 2.0 so I knew what to expect. The 2.0 is turbocharged where the 3.0 V6 is not. It is also lighter. I was shocked at how sluggish the 3.0 I drove felt compared to the Q5 when accelerating from a fairly low speed.

We already have all the SUV we need so we aren't after a Q-ship, or an X something, etc. And as the bride mentioned, we don't need that second set of doors, if we need to carry people we have all the SUV we need for that. It's really a cosmetic thing, I like the lines of the A5.

Understand ... my point was ... you need to test drive the different variants to see which one works for you.

It's a great looking car...anything you lose in practicality is made up by the utter sexiness of the coupe.

As to the engine choices, I have the VW/Audi 2.0T engine in a VW Beetle...it's a blast...Considering my Beetle Turbo weighs in just under 3,200 lbs and the base A5 weighs in around 3,600 lbs, I'd have to imagine it'll be a bit slower...With the suspension being softer as well it likely wouldn't be as much "fun". But it should be plenty competent for a responsible adult who isn't looking to act like a hooligan on his daily commute

If it was just me I'd go for the TT in a heartbeat.....probably even pick up a droptop but they are kind of tight inside.

Yeah, I asked....

Uhhh, the only 3.0 gasoline engine available in the B8 platform is the Supercharged 3.0 which is so much more powerful than the 2.0T it's laughable. I ran a 12.98 1/4 mile in my old stock B8 S4. The 3.0 Supercharged V6 is a beast. Sorry, but you either have your engines mixed up or are confused with the models. And yes, I've owned an A4 with the 2.0T too.

Maybe you are thinking of the 3.0 TDI? That one is turbocharged too.

I tried the supercharged model. Yes, it is a beast but I didn't like it. The way it delivered power was too aggressive and it was too noisy. It wasn't smooth and quiet like the supercharged A6. Maybe the other 3.0 was the diesel. In any event, I didn't like it. The test drive route involved turning right onto a highway on-ramp. There was traffic coming from the left but, with my experience of the 2.0 I expected to have plenty of time. I didn't. This car just did not respond like the 2.0. I was used to. It was sluggish. So we ordered another 2.0. which I am very happy with.

No real sunroof is a deal breaker for me. How Audi couldn't give it a proper retracting panoramic sunroof is beyond me.

German: BMW 435xi
Japan: Infiniti Q60 AWD
American: Cadillac ATS4

I'm digging the ATS4 Coupe

You can get a non supercharged 3.0 in the Q5....it has 4 engine choices, 2.0t, 3.0, 3.0tdi, 3.0 supercharged.
