Recently, I've posted a forum and mostly, if not all the responses were about "nightlife" so this forum is differently. I and my mom live in Florida and plan to move to the Augusta GA/North Augusta SC area. I'm jealous of how inexpensive the state of Georgia can be. I've been reading different forums, viewing the city's photos posted by other members, and reading the news online, so that does fill me in on the city's atmosphere.

If I live in North Augusta and work in Augusta, how will this affect me (i.e. state taxes, which city to get my vehicle licenses plate in, etc?) Please explain and add to the list of "need to know."

I have found a newly built apartment complex that I'd like to know more about. I've called but never got a person on the line. So could anyone give me information on the Brookstone Apartments in North Augusta? I like the exterior, floor plan, and rent price. Does anyone know the deposit fee, whether the complex uses electric or gas, surroundings, etc, and a better way I can get in contact with them.

If you would like to add or mention other information (i.e. other nice apartments, townhouse neighborhoods, community shopping centers, etc) people don’t hesitate to do so. Thank you.

I don't know for sure about how the tax situation works, I'll ask someone I know that is in this situation and I'll get back to you....

As for licenses/plates, you get them for whatever your home address is, so if you plan on living in North Augusta, you'll have to get a SC license and tag.

I don't know anything about Brookstone Apts., but if you can never get in contact with anyone when you call, that could be a bad sign, just sayin'.

Aren't taxes, generally speaking, higher on the west side of the river?

Ok, so to answer the question about taxes if you live in SC and work in GA...both GA and SC will tax your income, but you get a credit for the taxes paid to the state where you don't live. So, GA taxes will be taken out of every paycheck, but when it comes time to fill out your income taxes, SC will give you a credit for everything you paid to GA, so whatever you pay GA 'cancels out' what SC would have charged, so you technically end up only paying or receiving the difference between the two and it's just like what would happen if you live and work in SC, except it's just more paperwork for whoever prepares your tax returns. Tell me if this doesn't make any sense, I kind of confused myself when writing this lol.

Thank you EastsideDave for explaining the taxes issue between both states. It sounds like a math problem, my worst subject, LOL. As for not getting in touch with someone at the apt complex I like, I guess it could be a sign. Thanks anyway.
