The news keeps getting better and better for our Airport that was considered a joke 5 years ago. I expect we will rival Greenville Spartanburg and Columbia within the next year or 2. We only need a few more direct flights to compete with them.

GSP Airport traffic increased 48% in April 2011 compared to April 2010: //www.facebook.com/greenvillesp...?v=wall&ref=ts Augusta is going to need more than "a few more direct flights" to catch up with that. Now Columbia on the other hand is a different story.

Augusta is doing more than adding direct flights... This month Delta starting using a 124-seat Airbus to serve Augusta once daily.. The 124 seat Airbus is replacing a smaller 50 passenger jet.. US Airways switched all their aircraft to 50 passenger planes instead of using the smaller 37 passenger...

The 27.34% growth rate is for January-March 2011 vs 2010.. The economy this year is better than 2010 which means more corporate flights in and out of Augusta... More local people and extra corporate at this year's Masters put the airport on another level in April.. I'm sure April 2011 grew much faster compared April 2010...

Augusta Regional Airport sees huge increase in Masters traffic this year
Airport officials claim this year's Masters was one of the best weeks in recent years. Director of Aircraft Services at Augusta Regional Airport Bill Thompson says, "We did about 13 percent of our fuel sales for the year last week. They were so busy, Thompson says at this regional airport they had about 188 airplanes on the ground at one time.

Augusta airport is a long way from rivaling GSP. GSP is on a huge roll. No disrespect intended.

I agree. GSP passenger numbers are way ahead, and is predicted to hit historic records for GSP. That means well over 2 million passengers at least. It's also getting an 84 million dollar expansion.

Augusta has one of the fastest growing airports in the US.... Yes GSP is bigger, but Augusta Regional grew alot faster than GSP from 2005-2010... The airport in Augusta has a 79.8% growth rate since 2006... Augusta added 100k new passenger and set a passenger record in 2010.... I can think of over $30 million in expansions so far this year..

Greenville isn''t expected to hit 2 million until 2015...

With the addition of Southwest, it predicted to hit a record next year. It has already been at 1.7 or so million in the past. I know, trust me. I'm on board with development and growth. What are the numbers at Augusta Regional? I know you love your area, but don't let it make you blind.

The past is not the year 2011... Didn't GSP have around 1.1 million to 1.2 million in 2010??

AGS had 500K passengers in the year 2010.... AGS had at nearly 30% growth rate as of March 31, 2011...

With the addition of American Eagle being here all year, a Delta 124-seat Airbus who started flying in/out this month, US Airways switching from 37 to 50 passenger planes I'm sure the airport will have another record year in 2011..

Non stop flights to DC and New York will be added this year...Because of the growth the airport is more than likely to add a new airline by December 2011...

Your not reading my post right. In order to break record numbers you must surpass the history high. For GSP that is 1.7 to 1.8 million, which happened in 2004 I believe. That's the record we are on track to break next year. Again, Augusta Regional is a very long way from surpassing GSP, and may never in our lifetime. GSP's numbers have increased dramatically from numbers that were already a great deal away from Augusta Regional. Every thing you are talking about has already happened at GSP a long time ago.
