The city with the most prestigious golf event in the US would have a great college team..

Augusta State is the first golf team to win back-to-back national championships since Houston in 1984-85.

We may not have a top notch football team or stand out basketball team but we do have the best golf program the around. This should help Augusta State get on the map. Go Jags

Go Jags!! And actually lets not forget the ASU basketball team which has made the Division II Elite 8 for 3 years in a row(playing for a championship in 08). And they have been nationally ranked for 65 straight weeks which is the longest streak currently and one of the longest ever for D-2 ASU us turning itself into a nice well rounded university!

What I mean we don't have a team that is on a level of duke or north carolina. You can go to different states and they have heard of those teams. golf is different story to win a golf championship back to back is far more harder to win then basketball. Augusta already have the best major tournament around the Master.

That is highly impressive for a school of ASU's size.

I'm sure the local courses (Champions Retreat, Sage Valley, Augusta National, Aiken's courses, etc) help out with recruiting a bit!
