And I also wanted to see the crime rate but city-data doesn't have it and I couldn't find it anywhere.
I have lived in Augusta for over three decades. Prior to that my profession required me to relocate all over the world. It seems that every metropolitan area has booth good and bad areas. In almost every case that place contained areas where different groups dare not go. Seems that race, political affiliation, color, drug and/or alcohol use, hair style, religion, etc., set the imaginary boundary lines for the residents and visitors. Downtown Augusta? No better or worse than other towns. Most downtowns are dangerous at night. Dublin, Honolulu, Dubai, Rome. All the same. Check travel sites and you may find warnings about certain sections of town. Certain sections. The rest of the town is ok, so why not visit?
The uptight northern cities seem "better" than the "seedy" areas of Augusta. We offer a really low cost of living. A fine law enforcement crew. We have culture and class. We have slums. Hopefully not growing slums. We are a reasonable distance from some of the finest beaches on the Eastern Seaboard. Our schools are second to none. Colleges, Hospitals, A growing tourist friendly retail and dining community.
That's some of what we have to offer.
Aren't you proud of Augusta? I tell people all over the planet how great it is to live here.
Do you?
